Diesel Fuel Prices Going Up Across the Nation

Fuel prices are on the rise again, with prices around the country for a gallon of diesel and gasoline more than they were a week ago, although they remain significantly lower than they at this time last year.

The average price for a gallon of diesel this week was $2.811, $0.031 more than it was a week ago, but $1.164 less than it was a year ago, according to the U.S. Energy Information Administration. Meanwhile, the average price for a gallon of gasoline was $2.57, $0.085 more than it was a week ago, though it remains $1.143 lower than it was a year ago.

The West Coast led the way in diesel price increase, with a $0.061 rise in the past week, for a price of $3.026 for a gallon of diesel. Prices went up $0.032 to $2.691 in the Midwest, while the Central Atlantic had a $0.029 rise, for a price of $3.11. The Gulf Coast and Rocky Mountain regions also experienced slight increases, of $0.024 and $0.018, respectively.

The West Coast also saw the greatest increase in terms of gasoline prices, with a $0.214 spike from last week, for a price of $3.182 per gallon. New England, the Central Atlantic, and Lower Atlantic regions all saw similar increases, with a $0.077, $0.075, and $0.073 rise, respectively, for prices of $2.568, $2.602, and $2.439. Meanwhile, the Gulf Coast experienced a $0.063 rise, resulting in $2.305 for a gallon of gasoline.
