Executive Sedan.  If you weren’t paying attention, that’s what the “ES” in Lexus ES stands for.  Lexus first introduced the ES series in its earliest days back in 1989 a mere seven generations ago.  The ES started as a compact executive sedan and over the years became a mid-sized luxury vehicle.

The seventh generation ES made its debut at the 2018 Beijing Motor Show and was introduced in the United States as a 2019 model. The new generation benefits from more powerful engines, more power styling, and a new F-Sport variant.

Our Ultrasonic Blue Mica 2.0 (we only wish we had seen the original 1.0) ES 350 F Sport arrived on a beautiful late summer’s day and the entire staff descended on the vehicle to see the latest Executive Sedan.

The seventh generation ES is far more muscular looking from the front fascia on.  The standard grille sports more fluid vertical lines, making it far more interesting than the prior ES’.  All models feature slimmer headlights and taillights, as well. The F Sport sports a new mesh pattern and, on the rear decklid, a spoiler.

The transformation starts with some skillful plastic surgery to the front face. . Placed on a new platform, the ES is longer, lower, and wider than its predecessor. You definitely won’t mistake it for anything other than a Lexus, but the standard grille has changed with more fluid vertical lines that replace the previous model’s boring straight horizontal bars. F Sport variants receive an interesting mesh pattern, and in the rear, a trunk lid spoiler. Look for slimmer headlights and taillights on all models, as well as sharper window trim. Sitting on a new platform, the sedan is longer, lower, and wider than its predecessor.
