Toyota Achieves Global Hybrid Sales of 7 Million

Toyota Motor Corporation announced sales figures for its global hybrid sales. The automaker reported that sales of hybrid models exceeded 7 million units.

Toyota currently sells 27 different hybrid models and one plug-in model n 90 different countries and regions. In 2015, it will introduce 15 new hybrid vehicles to its global lineup. In January, the company launched the Lexus Voxy Hybrid and Noah Hybrid in Japan, and in July it launched the Lexus NX 300h. This month, Toyota will launch the Lexus RC 300h.

Toyota first introduced its Prius hybrid in the United States in 2000 and for the past two years it has been the number one selling vehicle in California. In the United States alone, Toyota and Lexus hybrid sales have exceeded over 2 million units by selling 12 different hybrid models and one plug-in model.

A fuel cell-powered model will go on sale in summer 2015.
