Audi unveiled the new A6 sedan, which will be launched with three diesel versions and two petrol engines.  An Audi A6 hybrid will follow.  The new models will be available in 2011 as 2012 models.

The A6 2.0 TDI has 177 hp and develops 280 pound-feet of torque, propelling the A6 from 0-100 km/h in 8.7 seconds with a top speed of 228 km/h (142 mph).  In the combined EU cycle, it used 4.9 l/100 km (48 mpg) and emits only 129 g CO2 per km (208 g per mile).

The A6 3.0 TDI comes in two versions.  One generates 204 hp and is capable of 295 pound-feet of torque going from 0 to 100 km/h in 7.2 seconds.  Top speed is 240 km/h (149 mph) and it uses 5.2 l/100 km (45 mpg) in the combined EU cycle, emitting just 137 g per km (220 g per mile).

The top-of-the-line A6 3.0 TDI has 245 hp and generates 369 pound-feet of torque and it goes from 0 to 100 km/h in 6.1 seconds.  Top speed is 250 km/h (155 mph) and fuel economy is 6 l/100 km (39 mpg), with CO2 emissions at 158 g per 10 km (254 g per mile).
While the new A6 is a few millimeters shorter and lower than its predecessor, it has a longer wheelbase and is wider, sporting a long hood, short overhand, and an elegant roofline.

Thanks to the new exterior dimensions, the interior is quite roomy.  The latest generation MMI cockpit controller is standard comes with either a 6.5” or 8” display that is concealed when not in use.  A 7” driver information system, situated in the instrument cluster, is optional.
