Nissan announced the launch of a new-vehicle subscription service, Nissan Switch, on Wednesday.

The automaker is piloting the program in the Houston area.

Switch by Nissan will provide members with a selection of Nissan vehicles ranging from the Altima, Frontier, Pathfinder, and Rogue that are included in the Select program, and the Armada, Leaf Plus, Maxima, Murano, Titan, and 370Z, as well as all vehicles in the select program, that are included in the Premium program.  The top tier of the Switch by Nissan program includes the GT-R sports car as well as vehicles in the Select and Premium tier.

Nissan is following in the footsteps of multiple automakers including BMW, Cadillac, Ford, Porsche, and Volvo, which have all introduced similar subscription options in the past four years. Book by Cadillac was shuttered at the end of 2018.

The basic Select tier costs $699 per month with unlimited changes of vehicle and a $495 registration fee, while the Premium tier will cost $899 per month plus registration.  The GT-R sports car tier costs $999 per month plus registration. No long-term commitment is required.
