BMW to Seek New CEO
BMW’s chief executive, Harald Krüger, will step down before his contract ends in April of next year.
The Munich-based automaker said Friday that its Vorstand, or supervisory board, will name a new CEO after its July 18 meeting.
The news follows BMW’s announcement that it is accelerating its rollout of a fleet of electric vehicles. It plans to have 25 electrified models on sale by 2023, two years earlier than previously announced.
It is also introducing a new feature that will automatically switch off internal combustion engines in its hybrid cars when they enter heavily polluted city centers, which the automaker refers to as “eDrive Zones.”
