Porsche Discontinues Remaining Diesel Model

Porsche said Tuesday that it had discontinued production of the one remaining diesel in its lineup.
The Macan S Diesel has been “taken out of the production program,” the German automaker said in a statement. Porsche previously discontinued the Panamera and Cayenne diesel variants.
As part of Volkswagen Group, Porsche was caught up in the Dieselgate scandal as it used the group’s 3.0-liter diesel powerplant. That engine had been developed by Audi.
Porsche first sold a diesel-powered model in 2002. Last year, only 15% of its worldwide sales were for diesel variants.
