BMW Group debuted its new Mini Electric Concept Wednesday. A production version of the concept car will come in 2019.

The car is fully electric, and is the direct ancestor of the Mini E, BMW’s first all-electric car, introduced almost ten years ago.

The vehicle has many of the characteristics of the Mini such as the hexagonal radiator grille and circular headlights, as well as the design of volume increase from top down.

“With its characteristic go-kart feel and powerful electric motor, the Mini Electric Concept is great fun to drive while also being completely suitable for everyday use –and producing zero emissions to boot,” said Peter Schwarzenbauer, member of the board of management of BMW AG.

BMW plans to have the vehicle make its world premiere at International Motor Show in Frankfurt, Germany, where it will be on public display beginning September 16.
