Mercedes-Benz to Integrate Google Assistant in Vehicles
Mercedes-Benz announced it would be integrating Google Assistant technology with its vehicles starting next year.
Google Assistant works with Google Home and the integration will allow users to send destinations to their vehicles, schedule and turn on heating and cooling systems, check vehicle status including fuel and battery charge levels, and lock and unlock the vehicle – all without actually leaving the driver’s home.
The announcement makes Mercedes-Benz one of the first automakers to integrate Google Assistant on Google Home.
“This newest integration shows just how intelligent the car of the future will be, and we plan to roll out more applications as the year progresses that will make daily life even more accessible and convenient,” said Sajjad Khan, the automaker’s vice president of digital vehicle and mobility.
Mercedes did not specify in which markets vehicles with the Google Assistant technology will be available or on what vehicles.
Google Assistant is the latest version of Google Now, which was desgined tob e an expansion of Google’s “OK Google” voice control system.
