BMW Reports Rise in Q3 Revenue
BMW Group announced financial results for the third quarter of 2014.
The automaker’s total sales revenue was €19.6 billion, a year-over-year increase of 4.5% from €18.751 billion in the third quarter of 2013. Operating profit for the company was €2.26 billion, an increase of 17.1% from €1.93 billion in the same period last year.
Total worldwide automobile sales increased by 5.8%, up to 509,669 vehicles as compared to 481,657 in the third quarter of last year. Sales of BMW brand vehicles rose 6.9%, selling 433,145 units. Sales of Rolls Royce brand vehicles rose by 8%, selling 891 units.
However, sales of Mini brand vehicles only rose 0.2%. Total sales of BMW Motorrad motorcycles were up 3.6% from the third quarter last year, selling 29,239 units as compared to 28,213.
Sales revenue for automobiles in the third quarter rose 5.5% to €18.142 billion from €17.197 billion in 2013. Revenue for motorcycles was €370 million, a year-over-year increase of 14.2% from €324 million last year, and revenue for BMW’s Financial Services sector increased by 4.5% to €5.221 billion from €4,994 billion last year.
