Chrysler Reports Best August Sales Since 2002

DSC_0157The Chrysler Group announced financial results for August 2014.  The company’s total U.S. sales for the month increased 20% year-over-year to 198,379 units sold, up from 165,552 units sold in August 2013.  Last month marked the company’s 53rd consecutive month of year-over-year sales gains, and its best August sales since 2002.

Chrysler’s Jeep model saw the largest increase in year-over-year sales at 49%, up to 68,766 vehicles sold from 46,239 vehicles last year.  Sales of Dodge vehicles dropped by 6% to 49,895 units sold from 52,858 units sold last August, while total Fiat sales saw a significant decline of 20% to 3,362 units sold from 4,190 units sold in the same month last year.

Three Chrysler Group models, including the Jeep Cherokee, the Jeep Patriot, and the Dodge Journey, all reported their best all-time monthly sales in August, while the Jeep Wrangler, the Dodge Dart, the Chrysler Town and Country, and the Ram Cargo Van reported record August sales last month.

Sales of the 2015 Chrysler 200 mid-size sedan, which first launched in May, increased 39% in August compared with the previous month of July.
