Worldwide sales of BMW brand vehicles totaled 126,152 units sold in August, a year-over-year increase of 6.2% from 118,744 units sold in the same month last year, while sales of Mini brand vehicles decreased 5.6% year-over-year, down to 19,504 units sold from 20,654 units sold last August.  Sales of BMW Motorrad motorcycles also declined year-over-year, down 1.6% to 7,587 units sold from 7,708 units sold in August 2013.

The increase in total worldwide sales was driven by strong performance in each of the company’s three major regional markets.  Asia showed the highest year-over-year improvement in August with a 5.4% increase in sales, while sales in the Americas increased 5% year-over-year and sales in Europe increased by 2.7% from last August.

The company’s new BMW X4, which first entered the market in July, also helped drive up sales for the month with vehicles delivered to a total of 3,640 customers since the model’s launch.
