Mercedes-Benz Reports 15% Increase in July Sales

DSC_0909Mercedes-Benz announced financial results for July 2014.  The company’s total sales for the month increased by 15% year-over-year, up to 27,192 vehicles sold from 26,423 units last July.   The sales set a new record for the best July sales volume in the company’s history.

The increase in July sales was led by the strong performance of the Mercedes-Benz E-, C-, and GLK-class models.  The E-class model saw the highest sales last month with 6,648 units sold, up 18.6% from last July. The C-class model had the second highest sales volume in July at 5,700 units sold, down 25% from the same month last year. Rounding out the top three was the GLK-class SVU model, which sold 3,870 vehicles in July, a year-over-year increase of 39.2% from the same month last year.

Meanwhile, sales of the Mercedes-Benz S-class vehicles rose 232.8% year-over-year to 1,920 vehicles sold in July, marking the brand’s 10th consecutive month of year-over-year sales gains.

The company’s Sprinter Vans and AMG brands also saw significant increases in sales for July.  Sales for Sprinter Vans increased 15.6% to 2,214 vehicles sold in July, while sales of the AMG high-performance model totaled 868 units last month, a large year-over-year increase of 87.1%.  Sales of the company’s smart car brands increased 57.1% year-over-year to 1,351 vehicles sold in July, marking its best sales month to date.

Sales of Mercedes-Benz Certified pre-owned vehicles increased 14.3% in July, up to 9,114 units sold as compared to 7,976 in the same month last year.
