BMW Reports Record Worldwide Sales in July
BMW Group announced global financial results for July 2014. The company’s total worldwide sales increased by 7.6% year-over-year to 163,959 vehicles from 152,351 vehicles in July 2013, marking the company’s highest ever sales for the month of July.
Worldwide sales of BMW brand vehicles rose 8.4% to 139,399 units from 128,596 units last year. Sales of Mini brand vehicles also increased by 3.2% year-over-year to 24,259 units from 23,515 last year, while sales of BMW Motorrad motorcycles rose 3.7% to 11,661 units from 11,241 units in July 2013.
The increase in total worldwide sales was driven by strong performance in all regional markets. Year-to-date sales of BMW and Mini vehicles in Europe increased by 2.8% compared with the first seven months of last year, while sales in Britain and Germany increased by 9.3% and 8.7%, respectively, for the month of July. Year-to-date sales of BMW and Mini brand vehicles also increased by 17.2% in Asia and by 3.6% in the Americas.
The company’s new BMW X4, which was launched in July, also helped drive up sales for the month with a total of 1,296 vehicles sold in its first month on the market.
