VW to Launch Redesigned Scirocco with More Fuel-Efficient Powerplants
Volkswagen announced plans to introduce the redesigned Scirocco with six new fuel-efficient engines, including four TSI petrol engines and two TDI diesel engines.
The new Scirocco 2.0 TDI with a 150-horsepower engine will go from 0-60 mph (0-100 km/h) in 8.6 seconds, 0.7 seconds faster than the outgoing model. It also boasts fuel consumption of 56 mpg or 4.2 l/100 km.
Out of the gasoline models, the new Scirocco 2.0 TSI with a 180-horsepower engine that develops 258 pound-feet of torque will go from 0-62 mph (0-100 km/h) in 7.4 seconds, 0.6 seconds faster than its predecessor.
The new cars will also feature enhanced leather interiors and restyled front and rear ends with standard LED lights, redesigned headlights, and a new rear VW logo that swivels outward and serves as a handle for opening the trunk.
The six new Scirocco models are scheduled to hit dealerships starting in mid-August. The cars will be launched in Western Europe first, and will later be introduced in China, Australia, South Korea, Russia, and Turkey.
