DSC_0701Chrysler Group announced financial results for May 2014. The automaker reported record sales of 194,421 units for the month, a 17% increase over May 2013, and its highest May performance since 2007.

Jeep brand sales were up 58%, and the month was the first time Jeep sales topped 70,000 units in the U.S.  Jeep Compass compact SUV sales were up 64%, marking the largest percentage sales gain of all Chrysler vehicles in May.

Ram pickup truck sales were up 17%, while Ram Light Duty sales increased 14% and Ram Heavy Duty pickups were up 34% in May. Ram Truck brand sales were up 19%, the brand’s best sales for May since 2005.

Dodge had its best May since 2007, with sales up 3%. The Dodge Dart, Journey, and Challenger all set sales records, and sales of the Dart compact sedan were up 16%, the brand’s best sales month to date. Durango sales were up 28%.

Chrysler Town & Country sales were up 37%, while Chrysler brand sales were down 22%, a drop Chrysler attributed to the end of production of its 2014 Chrysler 200 mid-size sedan and convertible.

Limited numbers of the 2015 Chrysler 200 started to arrive at Chrysler dealerships last month, and will be increasingly available starting in July. The company reported that 10,000 2015 Chrysler 200 orders were placed last month, with more than 17,000 orders placed in the first two days.
