BMW Sees Increase in Sales for May 2014

368C0099The BMW Group announced financial results for May 2014. The automobile manufacturer reported a 13.3% year-over-year increase.  The company’s year-to-date sales were up 4.9%, to 145,957.

BMW brand sales were 29,602, a 17.3% increase over last May, and a year-to-date increase of 12.2%. The BMW i3 was released last month and had initial deliveries of 336 vehicles.

BMW SUV’s were up 80.6% from last year, with the BMW X5 up 58.7% from May 2013, according to BMW.

Sales of BMW certified pre-owned and pre-owned were 18,064 vehicles sold, an increase of 14.1% from last May and a year-to-date increase of 13.8% of BMW used vehicles.

Mini sales were down 3.6% from May 2013, with reported sales of 5,729 vehicles. Mini used automobiles had their best month to date, with sales were reported at 2,282 vehicles sold, an increase of 16.2% from last May.

BMW Motorrad USA motorcycle sales were at 1,701 motorcycles for May, down 6.0% from the same period last year. However, the R-series reported a growth of 38%, which BMW attributed to strong sales of the three 2014 boxer models, the R1200 GS Adventure, the R1200 RT and the R 1200 GS, which had sales of 223, 227, and 197 vehicles respectively. S-Series sales increased by 17%, with 50 deliveries of the HP4, up 22% from last May.

The new BMW M3 and M4 will be on sale later this month, and the new Mini Hardtop is now available nationwide.
