Chrysler Reports Best April Sales Since 2007

Chrysler announced financial results for April, reporting a 14% increase in sales from last year with a figure of 178,652 units. The Jeep, Dodge, Ram Truck, and Fiat brands all saw a rise in sales compared to last year’s numbers for the month.

Jeep had its best month ever with a 52% increase, extending the Chrysler Group’s record of 49 consecutive months of year-over-years sales. The Jeep Compass, Ram pickup truck, Jeep Patriot, Jeep Wrangler, Dodge Challenger, Dodge Journey, and Ram Cargo Van each posted their sales numbers for April to date. Dodge Caravan sales increased by 36%, while sales of Chrysler Town & Country minivans increased 16%.

The Ram Power Wagon made its debut at the New York International Auto Show, and the Ram truck brand reported that sales were up 22% this month. Ram pickup truck sales were up 17%, while Ram Light Duty sales increased 7%. Fiat sales were up 10%, with the Fiat 500 Cabrio Abarth posting the larges sales gain at a 60% year-over-year increase.

Chrysler brand sales were down 21%, reflecting the end of production of the 2014 Chrysler 200 mid-size sedan and convertible, according to the car company.

The Michigan-based manufacturer finished the month with a 74-day supply of inventory, or 505,965 units, and projects 16.3 million units in sales for April.
