The BMW Group announced financial results for April 2014. The company reported record sales for the month, which has shown the highest April performance to date.

Total worldwide deliveries for the month increased by 4.3% year-over-year, to 162,093 units sold, from 155,427 in April 2013.

Deliveries of BMW vehicles increased by 7.8% to 140,840 units sold, from 130,604 last year. Deliveries of BMW Motorrad motorcycles and mini-scooters also increased year-over-year by 12%, to 16,344 units sold from 14,587 last year.

Meanwhile, deliveries of MINI vehicles decreased by 14.9% to 20,917 units sold, from 24,583 in the same period last year.  The company said that the drop in MINI vehicle sales for the month is a result of a recent model change in the MINI Hatch, and that sales are expected to increase again once the new model is released this summer.

BMW said it expects to sell more than 2 million vehicles in 2014, making it the best-performing year to date. The company plans to launch a total of 16 new and revised models this year.
