Nissan Shows Mid-Size Diesel Pickup Concept
CHICAGO—Nissan announced its latest diesel vehicle, the Frontier Diesel Runner, at the 2014 Chicago Auto Show on Thursday. Nissan is calling the vehicle a concept car, and is gauging interest for a mid-size diesel.
Modeled after the Frontier Desert Runner 4×2, the Frontier Diesel Runner is powered by a 2.8-liter 4-cylinder Cummins turbo diesel engine. The engine develops nearly 200 horsepower, and is capable of more than 350 pound-feet of torque.
The Diesel Runner has a 35% better fuel economy rating than its gasoline counterpart. The car’s interior and exterior are finished with tones of matte silver, jet black, and a flashy red.
The Frontier Diesel Runner will be on display during the public days of the Chicago Auto Show, starting February 8.
