Audi introduced its newest diesel offering, the A3 TDI Clean Diesel, available next fall, and the A3 Sportback e-tron gasoline electric plug-in hybrid, for sale in early 2015.

The A3 TDI Clean Diesel’s four-cylinder 2.0-liter engine develops 150 horsepower and 236 pound-feet of torque, while the A3 Sportback e-tron offers 201 horsepower and 258 pound-feet of torque when the 100 horsepower electric motor is engaged.

The introduction was part of Audi’s debut of the new A3 and S3 sedans, which will be available in the spring, and the A3 Cabriolet, launching alongside the TDI in the fall. The A3 will be offered with a choice of several powerplants, including a 1.8-liter engine capable of 170 horsepower and a 2.0-liter 220 horsepower engine for A3 models, and a 2.0-liter engine for the S3 that develops 290 horsepower.  All engines will be mated to Audi’s standard 6-speed S tronic transmission.

All of the 2015 A3s will have Audi drive select system as an option.  Audi drive provides four settings – Auto, Dynamic, Comfort, and Individual – and allows the driver to adjust throttle response, shift points, and the electromechanical steering resistance.  In addition, new A3s will feature the latest Audi connect technology, including 4G LTE connectivity and new app integration.

The A3 sedan will be priced starting at $29,900.  Prices for the other models are not yet confirmed.
