Today, four manufacturers, Audi, BMW, Mercedes-Benz, and Volkswagen, offer a total of 13 diesel-powered automobiles in the U.S.  Indeed, more diesels than ever are being sold, and the number of diesels available will almost double by the end of 2013.

Clearly, there are many good reasons for buying a diesel-powered automobile and the increase in popularity will come as no surprise to regular readers.  Indeed, in the past, our readers have told us the reasons they purchased a diesel included the incredible fuel economy, the power that comes from the diesel engine’s torque, and greater reliability compared gasoline engines.

In addition, diesel engines are known to last far longer and have greater reliability.  This in turn leads to higher resale prices.

Please rank your reasons for buying a diesel below.   We’ll publish the results in an upcoming article.  In addition, if you have a particularly interesting story relating to your reasons, use this form to tell us about them and they may included in our article.

The poll will run through June 15, 2012.
